Why you should hire me to shoot both photos and videos at your wedding?
Well hello there, it’s been a minute, hasn’t it!
So loads of things have happened since my last blog post.
I became a dog mom again! I now have a 11 years old staffie called Peter Barker and I also have a 6ish years old Romanian rescue called Bear ( who might actually be a bear rather than a dog )
Which mean that when I am not shooting or editing, I spend all my time with them two.
I have also half relocated and I now live half of the time in Cheshire and half in Devon! Which is pretty handy for all my weddings down here!
I also got covered in tattoos - but I had a lot of people at weddings telling me that normally they don’t like tattoos but mine are beautiful! ( Honestly I need to update some branding photos soon!)
I still haven’t bought my converted van (boo), but soon!
I also had the best year ever in regards to my business and shot some AMAAAAZZZZZINGGGGGG weddings.
And I started my mentorship sessions and I am putting together a workshop for next year! But more about that some another time!
And lastly I also got diagnosed with ADHD, which explains absolutely everything about my entire life, but more importantly also how I manage to be a hybrid shooter.
On that note I thought that I would talk a little about why should you choose to have me do both your photos and videos - especially when it’s not necessarily much cheaper than hiring two separate companies.
Well firstly, one of the main reasons is, simply put, because I won’t get in my way and overwhelm everything with stupid amount of time needed for your couple portraits. When you hire two separate companies you always run into the possibility of them working slightly differently and each needing you for set amount of time to get the footage / photos they need. Also I don’t get in my own way - as in you won’t see my in the background of your photos / videos, because, well I am the one shooting it all!:)
I never thought that getting in each other’s way could have been such an issue, but let me tell you a story about one of the weddings I have filmed earlier this year, to explain what I meant by the above!
One of my favourite weddings to film this year has also been one of the hardest one to work.
But why, I hear you ask? As much as I really adored the photographer the couple hired, our styles were so different. She liked to shoot on a lens which required her to stay super far from us.. and well, I like to be close to my couples, so we can joke, laugh, cry, ponder and everything else together.
This meant that for me to get the footage I would have been in her way, and if i stood far enough to not be in the shot, my couple would look like two ants in my video.
So I had to take them out from their dinner for more footage when the photographer left. It worked beautifully, but I am sure they would prefer to eat their cake in peace.
Secondly, the style will match! I edit my videos the same way i edit my photos, so whatever edit suits your wedding the most will be applied to both photos and videos
Thirdly, I can decide which way will be the best way to tell the story of YOUR big day. Some things look better in video and some will look better in photos... and some will look equally amazeballs in both!
When I do both I can make the creative decision and decide which route to take at which moment!
The next point is going to rough some feathers, but you know.. I just can’t stand most wedding videos. I find them very boring and loads of them done exactly the same way - slow mo of the drone footage of your venue, some whiney music, with some speeches overlapping that. Well I am not here for that kind of stuff, i want your video to be fun and emotional to watch, not a bore.
Well and if you would like to see more, here’s one of my fave hybrid weddings at the gorgeous Northbrook Park - where I already can’t wait to be at again later in 2023 : )
Lot’s of love to everyone and hopefully see you sooner than this time, with my next blog
