A BRAND NEW AND UPDATED: Natalie, how exactly can you do photos and videos at the same time on your own? Is it magic? ADHD? Are you crazy?
Well. The answer most likely is. Yes, all of the above
Jokes aside, hey guys, how are you doing?
Picture this: a radiant bride, a dashing groom, a fairytale setting, and the promise of eternal love. Weddings are a tapestry of unforgettable moments, and capturing them in all their glory is what I do best. When people reach out to me, they often wonder, "but Natalie, how do you manage to weave together stunning videos and breathtaking photos at weddings? Are you secretly a superhero?" Well, if you insist .. while I may not have a superhero one knee / one hand landing down to the t, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve that make it all possible. ( Ps if you fancy you can defo call me Diana or Wanda - and Wanda is a superhero, we’re not even going to argue about that! )
Before we plunge into the finer details, this blog is a revamped, turbocharged version of my earlier one. It's the result of soaking up insights and experiences from countless weddings over the last 2 years, many of which involved both photography and videography. So, get ready for an abundance of wisdom from the ever-evolving world of wedding visuals.
Now, let's get into the nitty-gritty. On the big day, I step onto the scene armed with not one, not two… not three, but four trusty cameras. Two of them are securely positioned on tripods, ready to roll for video, while the other two are snugly strapped to my badass photographer's harness ( vegan leather of course ). This setup offers me the freedom to glide through the wedding day, capturing those magical moments seamlessly.
During those pivotal moments like the ceremony or heartfelt speeches, I set up the two video cameras on tripods and let them work their magic, while I maneuver around with my photo cameras, preserving every emotion. I have shot plenty of weddings to know how ceremonies go, however to ensure that I have all the timings and any surprise elements covered, I also send out a detailed questionnaire before the wedding, which helps me to remember everything that makes your ceremony different!. This way, I'm always at the right place at the right time, just like a superhero.
For more - let’s say movable - moments, such as the confetti toss or sparklers, my experience from countless weddings guides me to exactly where to position myself and when to execute those subtle yet swift transitions. For example, during a confetti shower, one of mu hands is devoted to capturing photos, while my other hand takes care of the video camera ( yes the cameras slot nicely on top of each other. What can I say…I don’t bench press 60kg in the gym for sh*ts and giggles, but I do so, because carrying two cameras on top of each other at the same time now feels like nothing to me !).
It might sound a bit mad, but I promise it's a well-coordinated dance rather than chaotic chaos. ( At least in my ADHD brain )
Now, let's tackle the million-pound question: Why should you consider entrusting me to handle both your wedding photos and videos? Beyond (hopefully) loving my work and personality, there are some practical advantages:
Cost Savings: When you choose me for both aspects, you're likely to enjoy some significant cost savings. Who doesn't love a win-win?
Smoother Coordination: Say goodbye to vendor clashes and unexpected photobombs. It's a double win for a seamless, stress-free event.
No Unexpected Surprises: You won't accidentally end up with some of the worst people in the industry who might as well be the world's worst 'videographer.' That's a triple win for your peace of mind.
Consistent Style: When I handle both photography and videography, you can expect a consistent style throughout, resulting in a harmonious wedding album and film. That's a quadruple win for capturing your special day beautifully.
Now, while I know blogs are supposed to be lengthy to grab Google's attention, I'd rather let my work speak for itself instead of rambling on endlessly. So, without further ado, let me transport you to Mel and Ben's enchanting autumnal wedding at the breathtaking Holford Estate. Below, you'll find a fusion of video clips and stunning photos capturing their first kiss, the confetti toss, portrait sessions, and the sparkling send-off.
